We spent many months writing and refining an impact case study as part of the University’s submission to the current Research Excellence Framework. These things are generally a pretty dry meal, but our colleagues in Communications wrote a nice piece interpreting it, and explaining how the Centre for Research in Digital Education has helped shape the future of education through our research.
The article is here: it emphasises why we need long term, critical and engaged research across all sectors of education to move us beyond seeing technology as a ‘tool’ for ‘enhancing’ teaching. Although our Centre’s research is very diverse and interdisciplinary, it is consistent in its emphasis away from ‘what works’ to why digital education is a societal, political, pedagogical and planetary issue.
